Specifications at a Glance

Overview

The Hamilton Microlab STARlet is a compact, fully automated liquid handling workstation engineered for laboratories that need walk-away pipetting accuracy without sacrificing benchtop space. Built around Hamilton’s patented Compressed O-Ring Expansion (CO-RE II) technology, the STARlet delivers reproducible, contamination-controlled liquid transfers across a wide dynamic range — from sub-microliter to 5,000 µL volumes — in a single integrated platform.

This configuration pairs independent 1 mL and 5 mL pipetting channels with a CO-RE II 96 Multi-Probe Head and an Autoload 2D barcode reader, then extends the deck with a [MPE]² positive pressure extraction module and a Hamilton Heater Shaker (HHS). The result is a turnkey automated pipetting system purpose-built for formulation dilutions, desalting, sample prep, and solid-phase extraction (SPE) in pharmaceutical and biotechnology environments.

Delivered as a complete solution — instrument, workstation furniture, control PC, VENUS software, method programming, installation, and operator training — the Microlab STARlet is ready to validate and run production methods on day one.

Key Features & Benefits

• CO-RE II liquid-handling technology — tight, low-aerosol tip engagement for precise, carryover-resistant pipetting and reduced cross-contamination.
• Dual-volume independent channels — four 1 mL channels and four 5 mL channels handle both low- and high-volume steps without retooling.
• CO-RE II 96 Multi-Probe Head — simultaneous 96-well transfers for high-throughput plate filling and reformatting.
• Autoload 2D barcode reader — automated labware and sample identification for full chain-of-custody traceability.
• Integrated [MPE]² positive pressure module — automated SPE and positive-pressure extraction directly on deck.
• On-deck heating and mixing — Hamilton Heater Shaker 2G enables incubation and resuspension without manual intervention.
• Modular MultiFlex deck — reconfigurable carriers for tips, plates, deep-well plates, tubes, and reagent troughs.
• VENUS 6.0 control software — intuitive method building, scheduling, and audit-ready process control.
• Compact STARlet footprint — full automation capability on a single benchtop or dedicated mobile table.
