GMI sells both the Agilent G1322A solvent degassers and brand new modules as well (inquire). Degassing solvents is important in HPLC in order to reduce bubble formation when solvents are mixed. For GPC, more volatile organic solvents are used and detection is often using RI or another sensitive detector. Degassing increases sensitivity and reduces baseline noise, particularly at low UV wavelengths. On-line degassing has been shown to be more effective at removing dissolved gas from mobile phases than sonication or helium-sparging. Up to 4 solvent lines can be degassed simultaneously by one unit.
