The Siemens 238 Blood Gas Analyzer System is used for the determination of pH- pCO2 and pO2 in heparinized whole blood samples. In addition to the measured parameters- the 238 will also calculate standard or actual bicarbonate (HCO3)- total carbon dioxide (tCO2)- base excess in vivo or in vitro (BEvv or BEvt)- and oxygen saturation (O2 sat). Features of the Bayer 238 Blood Gas System include results are displayed within 20 to 120 seconds of returning the probe- 60uL (capillary)- 85uL (syringe) nominal sample volumes- and automatic calibration programmable sequence. The Bayer 238 offers other features of last result recall- standby mode to conserve reagent- designed to reduce the need for maintenance to an absolute minimum- and self-diagnostic test sequence helps to maintain integrity of results. .
