How it works;  Light from the source passes through a collimating device which focuses the light into parallel rays.  The focused beam passes through the plasma sample onto a photo detector.  The light level is continuously monitored and output signals are fed to sensitive electronic circuits.

The photo detector detects increase in optical density when fibrin strands begin to form.  After signal amplification and processing, the precise time between injection of the reagent and earliest fibrin formation will be displayed on the digital readout.  Its just that simple!
