The PerSeptive BioSystems BioCAD Vision Workstation is an absolute classic.
First there was the 'FPLC', then came the ‘Econo System’ followed by BioLogic, however, there is still only one BioCAD -intelligent biomolecule purifications system. The PerSeptive BioSystem or BioCAD Vision, is a wonderful alternative unit, to the Amersham / GE / Pharmacia AKTA systems.
The powerful BioCAD workstation is an example of the classic paradigm shift in purification. This system set an industry standard, using automated templates for optimizing purification protocols. The BioCAD Vision Workstation enables accelerated methods development through systematic exploration of key parameters affecting a separation and features advanced features like the SCOUT ™ column selector, scale-up design tools, and templates.
The main hallmark of the PerSeptive BioSystems BioCAD Vision Workstation (besides being the current model) is the addition of a built-in autosampler that doubles as a fraction collector. The optional SCOUT column selector extends the capability to elaborate automation lengths.

One of the most powerful capabilities of the COBRA system is the on board analysis software feature which allows preparative and analytical methods to be automated and seamlessly linked. This feature allows the collection and subsequent analysis of fractions generated during the purification. The COBRA robotic sample handling system can also be operated as an independent sampler or collector. As a fully-featured fraction collector, the COBRA system offers the broadest selection of collection vessels available today and can use racks with 96-well microtiter plates up to 50 mL centrifuge tubes. Because the COBRA system has an independent sample loading/injection system, it can act as an autosampler with excellent precision.

The PerSeptive BioSystems VISION Workstation is developed around the unique software programming environment introduced on the BioCAD Workstation, now the industry standard for purification methods development. Tasks such as buffer blending and column switching are accomplished automatically. And the entire chromatographic system, including the integrated AFC 2000 Robotic Sample Handling Device, is controlled through the VISION software, eliminating the need to program modules independently.

The VISION Workstation, with the built-in SCOUT Column Selector, offers a new level of automation for either systematic methods development of the routine execution of experiments. With the SCOUT module, you can screen up to eight different surface chemistries to determine the effect of selectivity on a separation. Utilize the SCOUT Column Selector to evaluate any of the 25 POROS surface chemistries, or conventional media if desired. And the SCOUT Column Selector can be used to automate your intial scaling studies, making the job of process development easier than ever.
