miVac concentrators make evaporation faster and safer, this makes the miVac a powerful concentration system.

  • Concentration methods speed up concentration of water and alcohols
  • Jet rotors further speed up concentration
  • miVac Speed Trap reduces solvent emission and speeds up concentration
  • miVac Pressure Controller enhances the performance of concentration parameters for a wide range of solvents

The miVac range of centrifugal concentrators from Genevac are capable of removing water and organic solvents from a variety of sample formats including, tubes microplates and vials. The miVac range consists of 3 concentrators, 3 pumps and a novel refrigerated trap.

miVac concentrators can be used for working with alcohols, water and water mixtures. Special built in methods optimize concentration times and the miVac pressure controller can further optimize these concentrations though full control of the concentration process. There is a larger quarto, and smaller duo system to choose from.

miVac systems from Genevac can be used on a wide range of solvent, everything from volatile organic types through to water as well as many medium boiling point solvents. Vacuum pumps are available in medium or high and miVac also offers a dedicated DNA system with built in pump!

There is a variety of rotor available and are chosen according to the sample format in use and can include both deep and shallow well microplates, glass vials and tubes. These rotors can be easily interchanged

Centrifugal vacuum concentrators work around a very simple principle. As atmospheric pressure decreases, the boiling point solvents reduce. When pressures are low enough, solvents will boil and can be removed even at very low temperatures depending on the solvents used and the level of vacuum applied.

Samples are spun in a centrifuge and the g-force applied prevents the solvent from evaporating or ejecting material in an uncontrolled way.
  • The samples are placed inside the vacuum chamber.
  • The rotor is spun The vacuum pump is switched on
  • If required heat to spin concentration is required, this can be provided by heaters in the centrifuge wall.
  • If refrigerated condenser or cold trap is used, the flow rate of the vacuum pump limits the speed of concentration.
The well designed miVac Cold Trap can be used to recover the waste solvent before the pump. This speeds up the whole process by maintaining a good vacuum in the sytem.

GMI can offer 3 systems, the miVac Quattro Concentrator, the miVac Duo Concentrator and the miVac DNA Concentrator
