Verax System 20 Bioreactor

We have 12 brand new in the box unused bioreactor systems for mammalian cell culture. It was designed for automatic controlled perfusion in mammalian cell fluidized bed bioreactors (this cartridge is not included, but you may be able to supply your own)  This is the control module (as shown in images at left). The controller contains hardware-pumps for media perfusion, recycle flow and base addition, and electronics (Industry standard PID -proportional, Integral, and Derivative -controllers for temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen concentration.  These support the flow path.  This PID enables continuous control of a process parameter and has the ability to keep a process parameter within a very narrow region around a desired set point.  The system 20 PID control was factory tuned to reaction curve process tests on a number of cell types and media types.  The user may 'tune' the preset parameters.  Monitoring of process variables is achieved by observation of the displays located on the upper front panel.  User interface and control is achieved through a membrane keypad located on the lower front panel.  Data is recorded on a 3.5" floppy.

This type of system was used with a custom bioreactor or fluidized microspheres
(not supplied).  With this system you will need to provide a reaction vessel.  The original mfr. no longer offers them nor supports this unit...but remember that they are brand new in the box.

pH control incorporates the use of CO2 gas as an acid across a gas exchanger to lower pH and base (sodium hydroxide) addition via a peristaltic pump to increase pH.  Media is metered into the recycle loop via the peristaltic pump.

Manual control of T, pH, and O2 is also possible via the controller.  Setup of the System 20 can be verified using the select key.  Continuous logging of reactor parameters including date and time can be accomplished via the floppy or PC and communications software.
