Protein Sequencer - Synthesizer
Applied Biosystems ABI 494 Protien Sequencing System
(BC-ABI494)
Applied Biosystems ABI 494 Protein Sequencer also known as the Procise Protein Sequencing System is the gold standard for protein sequencing and protein identification. This 4 channel sequencer delivers picomole sensitivity with a simple load-and-go set-up. Its extreme ease of use is designed for unattended operation overnight or over -the- week end with self-monitoring sensors
The model series comes in 2 formats: The classic HT model and the capillary format also known as cLC if the ultimate in sensitivity is required. Both has essentially the same dynamic range but the cLc is more sensitive because it can use the smaller 6mm filters (8ul sample). The HT uses the 9mm filter or appx. 16ul sample. The cLc is claimed to be 10-50x more sensitive.
The Procise System descends from the distinguished line of protein sequencers which dates back to the ABI Model 470. Entering a third decade of service to protein chemists- they continue to improve sensitivity- reliability- and throughput. With four cartridges- Procise can sequence 20 or more proteins in a week. The ABI 494 protein sequencer can handle samples at low picomole levels- either attached to PVDF membranes or in solution. Complete computer control of all systems enables walk-away or even remote operation. Designed for unattended operation overnight or over -the- week end with self-monitoring sensors.
Performs protein sequence analysis in the low picomole range. Proteins may be submitted either as HPLC purified or PVDF electroblotted samples. The amount of sequence obtainable from a given sample varies considerably depending on quantity- molecular weight- purity- freedom from salt contaminants- degree of N-terminal blockage (natural or artifact of preparation) and the nature of the sequence.
The Procise cLC Protein Sequencing System takes protein sequencing to the next level: femtomole analysis. At this sensitivity- if you can see the protein spot- you can sequence it and identify the protein. The Procise cLC sequencer is clearly designed for hard core proteomics research.
